Tracker: Over 270 Attacks on U.S. Catholic Churches Since May 2020 – CatholicVote org

Since civil unrest began on May 28, 2020, there have been at least 275 attacks against Catholic churches in the United States, including arson attacks which damaged or destroyed historic churches; spray-painting and graffiti of satanic messages; rocks and bricks thrown through windows; and statues destroyed (often with heads cut off). A new spate of at least 118 attacks has occurred since the draft Supreme Court opinion proposing to reverse Roe v. Wade was leaked in early May 2022, with many including graffiti with pro-abortion messages. Crucially, while a handful of the attacks have included thefts, the vast majority have only involved property destruction, indicating that the primary motive is not material gain.

The attacks on Catholic churches have been widespread across the country, affecting 42 states plus DC. The states with the most attacks are California (39), New York (28), Pennsylvania (19), Texas (15), Colorado (14), New Jersey (14), Massachusetts (12), Florida (11), Washington (11), and Oregon (10). Hotspots with large clusters of attacks include New York City (25) and the metro areas of Denver (13); Los Angeles (13); Washington, D.C. (10); Boston (10); Portland, Oregon (9); San Francisco/Bay Area (8); Seattle (7); Chicago (6); and Houston (5). Some of the churches have been attacked multiple times.

CatholicVote has found that only about 25% of the cases have had an arrest made in connection to the attack. The Biden administration has thus far refused to act to protect Catholic churches and stop these acts of domestic terrorism. In December 2021, CatholicVote sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice (DOJ) calling on them to act, pointing to a federal statute which requires the Attorney General to investigate and prosecute such crimes.

Between May of 2022 and September 24 of 2022 there were only six attacks against Planned Parenthood. The Radical Left is ALWAYS more violent than the so-called extreme right. America’s NeoLiberals have done more damage to American cities in the past three years than a century of American “right wing” militias, but you can be confident that 1992 siege at Ruby Ridge and the 2016 standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge got a lot more negative media coverage.

Disney sets closing date for controversial ‘Splash Mountain’ ride

The announcement caused quite a splash with fans of the ride.

Disney said Friday that the iconic amusement park ride will go on its final hike on January 23, 2023 before being shut down indefinitely in order to become “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” based on the 2009 film “Princess and the Frog,” reports Newsweek.

Splash Mountain first opened in 1989 and is based on the 1946 film ” Songs of the South.” The ride and film have since been criticized several times for having “racist undertones.”

Uncle Remus, His Songs and Sayings is a collection of 19th Century southern African American folklore preserved and published by Joel Chandler Harris in 1881. These stories are a significant and beautiful part of Black history just as Grimm’s Fairy Tales wonderfully preserve traditional European stories and Washington Irving created New England folklore. Disney’s Splash Mountain is a beautiful and fun tribute to Black history. This collection of folklore puts Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Bear, and Br’er Fox on equal footing with Snow White, Cinderella, and Belle… and it has been cancelled… because it is racist to celebrate historical Black literature? This must be the new NeoLiberal rules of math where 1+1 = anything but 2, and if you say it is 2 you are a racist.

Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

Today, January 23rd, is the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children within the Catholic Church. In the nearly fifty years where Roe v Wade was the law of the land in the United States, nearly 1 in 4 viable pregnancies was aborted. That means where ever two or three are gathered in His name, there is the ghost of a child.

What is God’s relationship with that unborn child? It is a solemn question worthy examination. The best place to start is scripture, for that is the part of the mind of God mankind can most easily examine. The following quotes span about 1500 years of scripture, with Job being the oldest, and the Gospels the most recent. Once you read it, it becomes quite clear that the Word of God said personhood begins in the womb at least 3500 years before we sorted out the science of it, and that the unborn are separate in being from their mothers. This is what Christians believe, or are supposed to anyway. So the next time someone asks you, “Where is it written…?” you will be ready to answer.

Job: 10: 8-12

Your own hands shaped me, modeled me;
and would you now have seconds thoughts, and destroy me?
You modeled me, remember, as clay is modeled,
and would you reduce me now to dust?
Did you not pour me out like milk,
and curdle me then like cheese;
clothe me with skin and flesh,
and weave me of bone and sinew?
And then you watched each breath of mine with tender care.

Psalm 139: 15

You know me through and through,
from having watched my bones take shape
when I was being formed in secret,
knitted together in the limbo of the womb.

Jeremiah 1: 4-5

The Call of Jeremiah

The word of Yahweh was addressed to me, saying,

‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
before you came to birth I consecrated you;
I have appointed you as prophet to the nations.’

Luke: 1: 39-45

Mary set out at that time and went as quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said,

‘Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honored with a visit from the mother of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’

Mark 10: 13-14

People were bringing little children to Jesus, for Him to touch them. The disciples turned them away, but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them,

‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. I tell you solemnly, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.’

Mark 9: 42

‘But anyone who is an obstacle to bring down one of these little ones who have faith, would be better thrown into the sea with a great millstone round his neck.’

More homeless people died in King County in 2022 than ever recorded before | The Seattle Times

In a matter of 12 months, the county’s presumed homeless death toll rose by more than 100 people, growing from 188 in 2021 to 310 reported by the end of 2022.

Fentanyl-related fatal overdose deaths made up more than half of all reported deaths of homeless people in 2022. The Medical Examiner’s Office found many people had a combination of fentanyl and other drugs, such as meth or cocaine, in their system.

I just want to give a shout out to America’s NeoLiberals and the Democrats they perennially elect for supporting an open and out-of-control southern border. Allowing the Communist Chinese government and the Mexican drug cartels to flood Seattle’s homeless population with fentanyl is the cleverest “solution” to the homeless problem I have ever seen. Cheers to you, you clever dogs! Way to think outside of the box.

Now before we give all the credit to the brain-trust that is NW Washington’s elite, all of America’s NeoLiberal cities and states have been rolling out similar “solutions” to ignorance, poverty, and homelessness for quite a few years now. Oregon legalized marijuana, and BAM! Emergency room visits for the children of drug users blew through the roof. San Francisco? BAM! The least of Jesus’s brothers are corpses on the streets with fentanyl in their veins.

Let’s look to Philadelphia as an example. My God-daughter lives in Philly, so this affects me. Philadelphia has a “law-enforcement-free” open air drug market where the city’s most disadvantaged can freely get ANY drug of abuse imaginable… and BAM! In 2021, the latest statistics available, Philly set yet another record killing off their poor and homeless. The NeoLib leaders of Philly, led by Democrat mayors since January 7th, 1952, managed to dispose of a record 1276 of its least worthy citizens, 77% with Chinese/Mexican fentanyl in their system, in a single year. ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY SIX less people to defecate on their sidewalks and toss dirty needles in the playgrounds. Add in the over 500 murders in the City of Brotherly Love, predominantly young black men killing other young black men, and Philadelphia’s NeoLib voters, Just like NW Washington’s, have helped roll out an effective, systematic, multi-pronged nationwide program to eradicate America’s most undesirable citizens. What a relief! My God-daughter is much safer now!

Catholic diocese lays down the law in Iowa: No made-up pronouns, no boys in girls’ sports, students to use bathrooms corresponding with their real sex – TheBlaze

The Catholic Diocese of Des Moines has taken a significant stand against woke ideology and LGBT activism. As of Monday, the southwestern Iowa diocese — headed by 60-year-old Bishop William M. Joensen — will be enforcing new rules in 17 schools, four Catholic hospitals, and 80 parishes, thereby buttressing old common sense and enraging radical leftists.

Gender Identity Guide and Policies

Diocese of Des Moines

This guide is intended as a commentary to help foster a proper understanding of policies of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Des Moines regarding gender identity, in recognition of the pastoral sensitivities regarding this matter, and the real and profound struggles individuals of good will face. Prior to any policy the Diocese of Des Moines fervently hopes that all persons experiencing gender dysphoria know what the Catholic Church tirelessly affirms, that they are unconditionally loved by
Jesus Christ and by the Church, and that they are vital members of the Body of Christ who have a home in the family of God.

Many years ago I approached the sensitive subject of same-sex marriage and the arguments for and against it. At the time I could only find a single non-theological argument against it. It was an argument based on the slippery slope fallacy. The “If you give them an inch, they will take a mile,” argument. While it is a logical fallacy, it is also a reasonable argument based on human nature itself. We, as a species, like to push the envelope… look for the next argument… to see just how far we can go before we get pushed back. We are all born bullies and the Woke Left wallow in their mean-spirited nature.

Children are born to test their parents. Good parents give their children solid, fixed boundaries, while bad parents let their children rule the roost. Good societies will set virtuous, healthy boundaries for their members, and sick societies will refuse to be victimized by the notions of virtuous behavior. Bad nations and evil leaders will forever ignore international good conduct in favor of daring good nations to put a stop to their evil doings. It is the way we have been since the Fall and the way we will remain until End.

Thus, a decade later, the best argument against same-sex marriage – the slippery slope fallacy – has sadly come to pass. Same-sex marriage is a key plank, but not the only plank, in the LGTBQ+ platform. Persecuting Christians and other religious is a plank. Sexual grooming – exposing, confusing, and indoctrinating young children into a life of sexual deviancy and self-harm – is a plank. And, yes, abortion is a plank.

That is a shame. It means that members of the LGBTQ+ community who are also people of conscience, who respect Judeo-Christian faiths, who value the innocence of children, who know and profess the existence of just two genders, male and female, who judge people based on the content of their character, not the color of their skin, and who know and profess that life begins at conception, have fundamentally lost their voice. They have lost their argument because they have not yet separated themselves from, and vocally pushed back against this evolution in their cause. In a way, it reminds me of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, where the road to hell was paved with good intentions. Thankfully, today, there are some who are pushing back. While not enough, Bari Weiss and her news site, The Free Press, and Dave Rubin with his show, The Rubin Report, are a good start. My hope is they will understand and support the Des Moines Diocese in it efforts to protect its children and faithful from the Devil at the gate.
